Neuromodulators, or wrinkle relaxers, can do just that by relaxing the muscle, decreasing the appearance of the wrinkle and smoothing out fine lines. With little to no downtime, wrinkle relaxers can be injected into the targeted facial muscles using a profound understanding of facial anatomy, to improve your youthful appearance.
As we age, collagen production decreases and your skin loses elasticity. There are two types of wrinkles we see on our face, making us look older. Dynamic wrinkles are seen when the face shows expression, such as excitement, surprise, sadness, anger or deep concentration. Dynamic wrinkles fade as quickly as they appear and when the face is expressionless, the dynamic wrinkle disappears. Static wrinkles, however, are still present when the facial muscles relax and are seen when you have no expression on your face. The appearance of dynamic wrinkles eventually becomes static wrinkles as we mature. Neuromodulators stop the motion that makes the wrinkle; it does not eliminate the wrinkle completely. Time, skincare, collagen regeneration, sun protection and a healthy diet will eventually heal the wrinkle.

Botox
Botox is the first FDA approved treatment of moderate to severe forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet. Botox works beneath the skin to temporarily relax the muscle that causes the skin to wrinkle. Some see results in as little as 4 to 7 days, with full effect in 30 days, lasting approximately 3 to 4 months.
Dysport
Dysport is FDA approved to treat moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, however it can also be used on other areas of the face to improve appearance of wrinkles. Dysport is fast acting and produces more relaxation than the other neurotoxins. Only taking 1 to 3 days to see effect and lasting 3 to 4 months.
Jeuveau:
Jeuveau is FDA approved to treat moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, however it can also be used on other areas of the face to improve appearance of wrinkles. Jeuveau is fast acting and produces more relaxation than the other neurotoxins. Only taking 1 to 3 days to see effect and lasting 3 months.
Xeomin:
Xeomin is a uniquely purified neurotoxin that creates a natural appearance still allowing some movement and not producing a “frozen” look. It is manufactured by isolating the therapeutic component of the molecule and does not include the proteins that do not play an active role in treatment, making it more pure. It takes 4 to 7 days to see effect and lasts 3 months.
Pre and Post treatment
Before your treatment, you should avoid taking any blood thinners for one week prior, unless medically necessary. Blood thinning agents can include green tea, omegas, NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen, naproxen and aspirin), ginkoba, or alcohol. Blood thinners can increase the risk of bleeding and bruising during and after your treatment. You should come to your appointment with no makeup and clean skin.
After your treatment, avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area on the face for 24 hours. You should not exercise the rest of the day after treatment and avoid wearing makeup for the rest of the day. You should not lie down for 4 hours post procedure. This minimizes pressure on the treated area and prevents the neurotoxin from migrating. Avoid saunas, massage therapy or chiropractic therapy after treatment that day.
What to expect
We strive to make wrinkle relaxer treatment as pain free and relaxing as possible. However, we are injecting into sensitive areas on your face and you will feel what most describe as a pinch. Treatment will take around 10 to 15 minutes. Results can take up to 14 days to see full effect, and we ask that you please wait the full 14 days before assessing your treatment results.
